WHY WE CARE

SUSTAINABILITY

We work hard, invest a great amount of effort and have fun doing what we love - Digital Marketing. Additionally, we are actively interested in building and improving a great and satisfying place to work that's highly rated by our team and clients.

INTRODUCTION

SDGs

We are conscious that our planet faces massive economic, social, and environmental challenges. To actively combat these, the United Nations created Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, which set global priorities and aspirations for the year 2030. We as SAHARA have selected four global goals as our strategic focus, where we believe we can best create shared value as a digital marketing agency and actively contribute to a more sustainable future.

3: Good health and well-being

We believe that everyone in our team has to feel comfortable and healthy. To ensure this, our offices offer the opportunity to participate in a weekly yoga or mobility class. We also provide fresh fruit, refreshment options, and other food in the office that can be accessed at any time. Additionally, we strive to have regular group activities such as hiking, biking and try to encourage our team to be more active.

4: Quality education

Understanding that quality education and training is fundamental and opens up opportunities, we offer our team regular opportunities to attend courses and training such as Facebook Blueprint, Google, Hubspot. As well we offer internal educational workshops at every opportunity possible and integrate an “educational Friday” in our offices where Staff teaches Staff.

5: Gender Equality

Our agency is a place where we strongly advocate gender equality and an anti-discrimination policy. Therefore, we encourage every gender to apply to our agency, regardless of their origin, background, and religion. By doing so, we aim to provide an equal representation of genders in our agency. Furthermore, we operate an Equal Payment Policy, which ensures that all people in the same position are paid equally. Furthermore, we need to make it abundantly clear that our agency is a workplace that does not tolerate sexual harassment and discrimination against any gender.

13: Climate action

By mapping and reporting the direct greenhouse gas emissions of our activities, we actively support climate protection. In our offices and at events we host, we do not use plastic cups and glasses, or paper plates. If required, these are made from recycled material. When purchasing needed products for the agency, we also use reusable bags made of sustainable material and complete them with our agency-owned electric car. In addition, a large percentage of the furniture and accessories in the agency was purchased in second-hand stores. In this way, we want to actively counteract a society of throwaways.

HOW WE SUPPORT

THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE

We would like to mention that we know we are not perfect. Nevertheless, we do our best to contribute to a better future and to have a positive impact on all of its stakeholders as it moves toward sustainability.

For this reason, we annually compensate the emissions we cause through the Icelandic
Wetland Fund Votlendi monitored by the Icelandic president Mr. Gudni Th. Jóhannesson. The Fund‘s primary objective is to contribute to the reclamation of wetlands and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Iceland, as well as to promote the recovery of biosphere, birdlife and improving aquatic resources.

The Board of Directors is responsible for this sustainability policy. The Executive Director is responsible for its implementation. As such, the policy will be reviewed on an annual basis.
