The Power of Branding for your business

The marketplace has become so saturated that it's become more difficult to make a genuine connection with customers. Branding is the way to separate from other companies; it's an experience. Think of branding as a human-being: everybody has different characteristics and personality that sets them apart. Everyone has their own DNA. Branding your business is like bringing your business to life and giving it an identity.

Branding is more than just an attractive logo and some social media posts. If we compare branding to a human-being again, think of the logo like the face of the person and the social media posts as the clothes and accessories that the person chooses to wear. Having all those pieces together is what is called branding and it’s one of the most valuable assets of your company.

But Why?

Branding is a strategy. (that you can create for your business)

  • It helps people identify your business: Let’s start with visuals.
  • The colors, shapes, logo, icons and fonts you choose says a lot about your business. These are all elements that will represent your business visually. It’s going to be the first thing people see to identify your business from your competitors.

Let’s take a look at this brand:

I’m sure you have a pretty good idea what brand this icon belongs to because this is how branding works. The use of colors and shapes can create an impression that people will automatically recognize when they’ve seen it a few times. According to Dr. Lynell Burmark, education consultant who writes and speaks about visual literacy: “…unless our words, concepts, ideas are hooked onto an image, they will go in one ear, sail through the brain, and go out the other ear. Words are processed by our short-term memory where we can only retain about seven bits of information.” Visuals, on the other hand, go directly into our long-term memory which makes sense to having a logo to your brand.

All the visual elements: logo icon, font style and colors put together creates a vibe that’s going to attract customers to your business. It’s a customer’s first impression.

  • It tells your customers what they can expect from doing business with you.
  • This is where the voice and tone of your brand come in.
  • It gives your customer a reason to buy from you.
  • It helps to build trust with your customers.

All this together will help you grow your business and attract the right/ideal customers to your business.

Products or services can be easily copied by others, but your brand will always be unique. For example, Nike and Adidas both sell athletic shoes but some people feel more connected to one brand rather than the other. This means success for your business because it’s on the level of your competitors.

The reality is that what your customers think and say about your business, that is your brand. It’s based on a feeling they have that is based on their experiences they’ve had with you, good or bad.
